Heavy rain alert in 20 other Turkish states, including Istanbul
Many houses, offices, shops and factories were flooded in the Turkish city of Istanbul on the second day of Eid al-Adha due to heavy rain and flooding.
Heavy rains have submerged the country's second largest city after the capital Ankara. The Meteorological Department warned of more storms in Istanbul and 20 other states.
According to the Al-Arabiya News report, there has been no confirmed loss of life in the city as a result of flooding that occurred after rains over the past 24 hours, but property has been damaged by flood rails.
The flooding affected traffic in some parts of Istanbul, where traffic police later began clearing streets for pedestrians.
According to municipal officials, the roads were less congested due to the Eid-ul-Adha holidays and weekends. However, most of the roads were flooded due to rain and flash flooding.
The floods damaged more than 128 apartments, 12 business offices and three factories in the city, according to the report. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will provide financial assistance to the owners of these apartments, business offices and factories.
