The first case of monkeypox has come to light in India, the number of monkeypox cases worldwide has reached 9,200 in two months.
According to the United Nations, there have been 9,200 cases of monkeypox in 63 countries so far. The World Health Organization is holding an emergency meeting next week to decide whether to declare monkeypox a global health emergency.
According to Indian media, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said Thursday that a person who arrived in Kerala from the United Arab Emirates three days ago was showing signs of Monkey Pax.
Sources said a sample from the victim was sent to the Pune Institute of Virology and his report came back positive. The victim has been kept in isolation.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George said everyone who knew the patient was also under surveillance, including her father, her mother, a taxi driver, a car driver and 11 passengers in the taxi.
Health Minister Veena George says there is a risk of the disease spreading to first contacts, but there is no need to panic.
Monkeypox is a contagious disease and its transmission rate is generally very limited compared to corona virus.
The virus can be transmitted to humans through close contact with an infected person or animal through bodily fluids and inhalation.
