According to a statement issued by ISPR, on the night of July 12-13, 10-12 terrorists attacked Lt. Col. Laiq Baig Mirza (posted to DHA Quetta) and his cousin as they returned from a visit to the Quaid-Mirza residence. e-Azam. in Quetta he was kidnapped in the Warchoom area near here.

According to a Pakistan Army spokesman, as soon as the incident was reported, Pakistan Army Quick Reaction Forces were dispatched to search for the terrorists, who tracked them down as they headed to a hideout in the Mangi Dam area. . 

According to ISPR, on the night of July 13-14, a team of security forces saw a group of 6-8 terrorists passing through a ditch along the nearby mountains. Laiq Beg shot and killed Mirza and attempted to get away.

According to the Pakistan Army spokesman, the fleeing terrorists also opened fire on the forces and killed two terrorists in a two-on-two encounter, from which improvised explosive devices, explosives and a large quantity of weapons were recovered.

The ISPR said that during the operation, the remaining terrorists along with the other hostages managed to temporarily escape.

The Pakistan Army Public Relations Department further said that the search operation in the area was continuing uninterrupted despite the inclement weather by the security forces to retrieve the innocent hostage and catch the culprits.

The Army spokesman said that the security forces were determined to thwart such cowardly attempts to sabotage Balochistan's peace, stability and development.
